Who runs it

Investments is run by Latent Byte. You sign in with your Latent Byte account. The app stores your account id with your data, shows your email or name to you while you are signed in, and checks that the account is active.

What it stores

The parsed holdings of each import you make (accounts, positions, quantities, and values), never the raw file. File contents are not logged.

What you create from them: analysis runs, comparisons, ETF picks, targets, override sets, account types and fees, fund proxies, cost assumptions, your investor profile, classifications you change, and coming-soon features you ask for.

All of it is tied to your Latent Byte account id and only you can see it. Feature requests are shown to others only as a total count.

A sign-in session cookie, and your theme and hide-values choices in your browser.

What is shared

The ticker reference: sector splits of funds and stocks built from public data. Tickers your runs hold are looked up and added to it, without any amount, account, or owner; holdings without a ticker are never added. Classifications you change on a run apply only to your runs; only Latent Byte admins change the shared reference, and only its ticker entries.

Third parties

Fund and price lookups go to Yahoo Finance, SEC EDGAR, OpenFIGI, and Coinbase. They receive tickers or security identifiers, never amounts or account details.

Latent Byte's own analytics (Umami) counts page views by page type and a few actions, such as an import or an analysis finished, with only the import format and yes-or-no options. It never receives amounts, tickers, account names, filenames, or ids, and it respects Do Not Track.

There is no advertising and no AI service call. The Ask page builds prompts you can copy into an assistant yourself.

Your data is not sold or shared with anyone else.

Keeping and deleting it

Your data stays until you delete it. On the Your data page you can download all of it as JSON, or delete all of it at once from the app's database. Imports, runs, and targets can also be deleted one by one.
